The Horizons of Friendship office is located on the traditional territory of the Michi Saagiig and Chippewa Nations, collectively known as the Williams Treaties First Nations, which include: Curve Lake, Hiawatha, Alderville, Scugog Island, Rama, Beausoleil, and Georgina Island First Nations. We respectfully acknowledge that the Williams Treaties First Nations have been stewards and caretakers of these lands and waters, and that today they remain vigilant over their health and integrity for generations to come. We recognize that we have a duty to do more to learn about the rich history of this land, support work towards honouring the treaties, and support Indigenous peoples here and globally. Towards this goal, Horizons directly supports ten Indigenous groups in Mesoamerica, including: the Tzotzil, Tzeltal, Chol, & Tojolabal in Mexico; Maya Kaqchikel, Maya K’iche’, and Tz'utujil in Guatemala; Miskitu in Nicaragua; Terraba in Costa Rica; and Ngäbe-Buglé in Panama.
