Project Summary
Together with your support, our partner the Administrative Association of the San Buenas Coronado Aqueduct (ASADA) we are purchasing all materials needed to replace the three-kilometre stretch of water pipe and infrastructure that was severely damaged. This project will benefit 8 rural hamlets in the Puntarenas province in Costa Rica.
Further, educational programming delivered by ASADA in cooperation with the Ministry of Education continues to be prioritized, with topics shared amongst community members including the importance of water protection, conservation, and management to ensure the pipeline is properly maintained for generations. These workshops teach community members about water resource management, stewardship, and related issues such as reforestation and soil management.
Throughout the implementation of this project, ASADA continues to ensure input from local stakeholders and community members as five members of the ASADA team are local to the area the project is being implemented in. Local trades and labour have been utilized for construction phases of the project, and workshops continue to be delivered by local teachers who are also community members.
